| The Lisa Inman Scholarship Fund The financial aid fund at Five Acre School was originally created with a donation by the Tom and Claire O'Neil Foundation. In subsequent years the fund has received regular contributions from the Five Acre PSO and personal donations from individuals. In 2005 it was named the Lisa Inman Scholarship Fund in memory of a beloved Five Acre School teacher who was also a major supporter of the fund. Again this year the Lisa Inman Scholarship Fund will lend a helping hand to several families sending children to Five Acre School. Financial Aid Administration Scholarships will be awarded based on financial information that is processed by the School and Student Services for Financial Aid (SSS) of Princeton, New Jersey. The application process is administered by the Five Acre School PSO Financial Aid Officer. The final determination of awards is made by a committee of three volunteers who have no children attending Five Acre School and no other connection with the school. Priority in receiving aid is given to 1) students who will attend three or more full days per week, and/or 2) families with two or more children attending Five Acre School. Financial Aid Determination Financial aid eligibility is determined by an independent national service, the School and Student Service (SSS), a division of the Educational Testing Service. SSS provides financial aid service to over 1300 private schools and universities throughout the United States. Using a Personal Financial Statement submitted by each applying family, SSS calculates need based upon gross income, assets, and expenses. The Five Acre School PSO Financial Aid Committee then uses SSS's need figures to allocate awards from the Financial Aid Fund. No one can be guaranteed to receive an award, nor can anyone expect a "full ride". The amount awarded to any individual family will depend on the results of their financial need analysis in combination with needs of the other applicants. |
